The theme in the workshop this last couple of weeks has been fitting Tannus puncture proof tyres with sets in green red and black to fit. Tannus tyres come in a number of different sizes and styles.  This weeks crop included a red pair of narrow road tyres and a chunky pair of hybrid tyres for a mountain bikes. These stretched my tyres fitting skills as they were a beast to get over the rim. Wheels and Tyres The theme of  last week in the workshop seems to have been wheels and tyres. With bucked wheels and wheels missing spokes to fix as well as the opportunity to fit a pair of gorgeous melon green Tannus Puncture proof tyres. Tannus tyres are made from a cleaver polymer, which performs like the sole of a running shoe. I.e. it gives support and cushioning like a pneumatic tyres but is made from a solid material, which means it can never puncture and never needs pumping up. The other benefit is that the tyres come in wide range of gorgeous colours including the melon green in this picture.          ...

Do You do House Calls? That was the questions someone asked me last week and as a mobile bike mechanic the answer is of course yes. Interesting little task, the customer had recently purchased a new bike following an insurance claim. As is typical with insurance claims,  the insurance company chose to deal with the a remote bike dealer,  so it wasn't possible for the bike to be returned for a solution to the problem. The customer had opted to have tubeless tyres, but since the bike had arrived the rear tyre had been regularly deflating. It was therefor my role to remove the value add a little more sealant replace the valve and re-inflate the tyre. A very pleasant trip out on a warm Saturday morning; especially as the customer makes excellent fresh coffee. Looking forward to my next visit when the customer has another bike maintenance problem to be fixed.                ...

Helping out at the Tour De Weeton this am, doing maintenance for anyone needing a bit of help. Great time lovely people and a fantastic family fun ride. Demonstration E-Bikes have arrived After several months preparation including training on maintaining ebikes both with the Associations of Cycle Traders Cytech ebike course and Bosch's own training in Scotland. Three high quality European e bikes have arrived for demonstration purposes. Reptila 900 This is a great step through town bike powered by a Bosch Active Line Motor. Last week a customer sought advice on why when he had started cycling using a road bike it was so much harder than his hybrid bike. It was pretty clear that the difference in the gear ratios meant it was much harder to peddle especially on Yorkshire hills. I swapped the cassette for a larger 11-32 tooth version and the customer reports to quote. " Yes ride was much better with the changes, much more enjoyable. It was the right changes. Thank you."          ...

It felt like Christmas this week at the Yorkshire Bike Company as I unwrapped a Bamboo Bike frame, which has been send from Ghana for evaluation. It was incredibly well wrapped with foam and tape and inside was a very shinny new bamboo bike frame. Which looks really well made. People who have seen it think it looks really cool. So the next thing is to build it up with some new parts and go for a ride and show it off in Yorkshire. We are told its performs well on bumpy roads so should be just the job around Harrogate and the Dales.
